Hi, Iām Taylor Bellacetin.
And I am the founder and executive director of A Seat At The Table. I am a disability parent raising a resilient 2 year old with complex needs and disabilities.
This journey has been anything but expected and while I have professional experience working with families affected by disability, I believe what has led me to this ministry is that I know you before I have even met you. As a disability parent, I know the ways your heart breaks for your child because mine breaks too. I know the ways your body aches from the weight of carrying so much because my bones are aching with yours. I know the things that you want for your child because I want the same for mine.
If you are seeking support for your family as you navigate a new diagnosis or a new part of your journey as a family raising a child with disabilities, I would love to walk with you in that!
And if you are a church or ministry leader desiring to advocate for and support families affected by disability but maybe are not sure where to begin, can I help you step in to this work?
about a seat at the table
MISSION
To empower and support parents of children with disabilities through advocacy training and resource navigation to help families access and learn more about supportive systems and state and government benefits.
To come along side churches as they learn what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus for families effected by disability by offering consulting, resource support and inclusion training.
Our holistic focus
Many families navigating disability often feel overwhelmed and isolated and while companies exist to provide communal support, or resource navigation, very few do so from a holistic focus.
-
Community shifts and changes in disability parenting and we desire to be a space that provides connection through communities of people who are navigating similar seasons.
-
A diagnosis often comes with a new world to explore. Through A Seat at The Table, support will be given to help families better understand and navigate all that comes with each new diagnosis.
-
In addition to providing community and knowledge, our main focus will be providing resources to families. Many resources are often hidden making it difficult for already overwhelmed families to access life changing information. We exist to help remove some of these challenges.
WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT?
Over 22.5% of families in the US are affected by disability.
Roughly 80% of families raising children with disabilities leave the church due
to a lack of resources, support and inclusion for their child and family.
